This life-size sculpture of an exotic African Ndebele woman, wearing metal rings around her neck and earrings, stands gracefully on a round metal base, balancing a brass embrace on her head. It is reminiscent of the Austrian bronze masters of the mid-20th century. Traditionally, a woman's marital status can be determined by her jewelry and clothing: Married women wear heavy brass rings around their necks, arms, and legs.
