George Nakashima 'Frenchman's Cove II' Dining Table in Walnut

This striking and unique Frenchman’s Cove II dining table was designed by George Nakashima and created in his studio in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The American woodworker and designer proves with this quintessential table that he is a true master of his craft. The table features a double board top with a free-formed edges, connected by four butterfly joints. The form of the free-edge slabs is beautifully accentuated by the light color of the sapwood. The walnut wood gives the table its defining, distinctive look, with its pronounced grains and expressive pattern, breaking the strict lines that characterize the structure of the base. During this period, New Hope formed the home port for many great designers such as Frank Lloyd Powell and Paul Evans.
