Angelo Mangiarotti for Sorgente dei Mobili Cabinet in Mahogany & Grasscloth

This outstanding sideboard, dating back to the 1960s, is a design by Angelo Mangiarotti produced for Sorgente dei Mobili. Each panel is skilfully carved, showing fine lines and clear angular shapes. In addition, each panel contains a grasscloth front, which imparts the piece with an organic allure. A defining feature are the quirky, carved legs with rounded contours that are small compared to the substantial size of the body, creating a visually striking counterbalance. All in all, this cabinet reflects the design principles of the Mid-Century era that rose to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s in Italy.
